| School is finally over! This year actually past by really fast. It was good though, I enjoyed my classes.
Re-did my portfolio for industrial design during end of April. Didn't get much sleep though. However, I'm not as concerned about the result this year. Whatever God has planned out for my life, I'll go with it.
This week was pretty good. Just did a few things. made a 'drift machine' sticker design for Kev, played some b-ball, went on grouse grind (pretty tiring), washed the car, etc...
Well, I'm leaving for HK next week. Maybe I'll return with many random items.
I will update my drawing website soon. Right now, a new idea for a concept car is rising in my mind!
See you all soon,
Ivan

| This year, school has been going alright so far, other than some challenging times with projects here and there. I actually haven't been drawing much, as all of my courses don't require much sketching.
Right now, other than school, I'm trying to do devotions daily, pray and focus more on God. Also, teaching Sunday school is actually going well, not as bad as I thought it would be.
idraw has been going well. The students are getting better and better. I will be updating the website soon and there will be new artwork done by students. Later, there will be a major update with a new section for cars. The website is www.freewebs.com/idrawprogram feel free to check it out when you have time!
As always, I've been thinking about cars and trying to save up for my new target! a 1988-1990 Toyota Corolla GT-S (AE92). It'll come...it'll come, soon.

Concept Volvo ‘R’
The design of Volvos have certainly changed significantly when we compare today’s Volvos to the time when Volvos still had the style of having flat sides, resulting in a more frame-like structure. That style was popular during its time, and now, Volvos have rounder edges and aggressive character.
Today, there are a few design elements that I noticed which are used as a Volvo identity: the front grille, the side that curves outward, and the uniquely shaped taillights. I believe that this new trend in Volvo design began with the S80 a few years ago, leading to the S60, XC90, and the new S40.
The car that I came up with is called the ‘RW50’. ‘RW’ stands for ‘racing-works’ and ‘50’ is the number that slots in between the S40 and S60. Although I had many ideas for this car, it took me two weeks to finalize the look. During the process, many changes were made. I wanted to retain some of Volvos identities and also add a few of my own ideas. The hood of the car slants down more than other Volvos, with unique L-shaped headlights that stretch across to the side. At the back, reversed L-shaped taillights give the car a fresh new look. Also, the sides only curve slightly outwards. These changes make it look different than present Volvos but can still be easily identified as a Volvo.
Well, that’s all I have for today. Hope you all like the car.

| Hi everyone, I have just joined xanga recently. Here is my first entry and I hope you will enjoy your visit!

History of Trueno/Levin AE86:
During the 1980’s, Toyota developed the Sprinter Trueno and Levin. If I am correct, Trueno means ‘thunder’ and Levin means ‘lightning’. The Trueno had flip-up headlights while the Levin had headlights similar to what we see on cars today. Overall, the two cars generally looked the same. Both cars came in Hatchback and coupe form and had a front engine – rear wheel drive layout (FR). Toyota used parts that they had for the Corolla to build the Trueno and Levin. In Canada and the United States, the Sprinter Trueno was sold, as the Corolla GT-S and Levins were not imported. The engine that Toyota used is called the 4A-GE and is well known for its reliability, high revving, and lightweight. In Japan, the engine produced about 130 hp while the version here was tuned down to about 120 hp. The chassis code name of the Trueno is AE86 and it is how many people know the car as. In Japan, the AE86 was very popular and people used it for drifting. Later, the AE86 was replaced by the AE92 with a front engine - front wheel drive layout (FF) and followed by the AE101 and AE111. However, in Canada and the United States, Toyota discontinued the Corolla GT-S after the generation of the AE92. There is a very popular anime series called Initial D, where the AE86 is featured. It is full of exciting street racing and drifting combined with fast upbeat music.

The design - Bringing back the legend:
It is quite disappointing that Toyota no longer makes the Trueno or Levin, especially for true enthusiasts. With this idea in mind, I was inspired to redesign this car. Recently, I have been looking at car design sketches from magazines and made a few sketches. Using the basic appearance of the AE86 hatchback and coupe, I have extracted modern car design elements combining with my own ideas to come up with this car. The sketches are purposely drawn in an exaggerated way. As you can see in the sketch, there are shapes and elements that can be related back to the original AE86. The roof of both the hatchback and the coupe are shaped in a curve, like an arch. The shape of the front opening of the front bumper is actually formed from the letter ‘T’ representing Toyota. You will also find this shape repeated at the rear lights with the license plate space. The rear lights also relate back to the AE86, where the back up light is located in the middle. One key point in this car is the two-tone colour. The white and black two-tone colour scheme of the AE86 was probably the most popular colour in Japan. Here, I have made a sketch of the car in this colour. The dark grey colour wraps around the fenders and along the sides. They are grey-painted plastic and not just plastic. I have kept the design of this car quite simple, using shape and form to create a new sleek and stylish look. Adding a bit of style to the car, I have included a rear lip-spoiler and dual exhaust system. I hope you like it.
